State Forest
| Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina between
Hendersonville and Brevard
and at over 10,600 acres, DuPont State Forest is one of
the most popular outdoor recreational areas in western NC. Hiking
trails of varying difficulty wind throughout the forest, arriving
at mountaintop views such as Cedar Rock Mountain and Stone Mountain.
Water lovers will enjoy swimming in several beautiful lakes,
including Lake Imaging, Lake Julia, Lake Dense, and Fawn Lake,
or fishing in the Little River and its tributary creeks. |
 |
Horseback riders can park in one of three
parking lots and access any trail in he Park.
Each trail is wide and clear, and all have gorgeous views.
|
Nearly 100
miles of multi-use trails and roads thread the forest, as
does the Little River, which has six beautiful and unique
waterfalls, five of which are seen below. |
| Mountain biking in DuPont State Park is incredible, with
different levels of difficulty on a variety of surfaces. As
a matter of fact, one of the top mountain biking magazines recently
rated DuPont State Forest among the top ten places to bike in
